A great place to start when you’re just not sure about something.

Will the plugin work on a multisite?

If you are not mapping domains then yes, it will work on a multisite.
If you are mapping domains, then you will need to purchase one of our larger licensing packages.

Do students need to do anything except access a page that has the shortcode?

It uses the standard WordPress user system, so as your students would already have a “LearnDash account” they’d also be able to access the live chat. It’s as simple as adding a shortcode to a page.

Is there a limit to the number of users the messaging plugin will work with?

This largely depends on your hosting provider. Your site may experience performance issues with over 5,000 users or 5,000 stored messages.

Are group conversations a possibility?

Yes, group, per course, and 1-on-1 conversations, along with student to teacher and student to student.

Does the Messaging plugin work with the BuddyBoss theme?

Yes, it does!

Are chats searchable?

Yes, our Messaging plugin features a search box that allows you to search for chats within your LearnDash courses & groups, as well as LifterLMS courses.

Can you embed video in the chat?

Yes, absolutely!

Where can the chat function be accessed?

The chat window can be accessed from the LearnDash course page, lesson pages, and topic pages.

What user roles are compatible with the Messaging plugin?

Our plugin recognizes the admin, group leader, and “enrolled student” (WordPress user enrolled in a course) user role.

Is the Messaging plugin integrated with the Instructor user role?

No, our plugin is not integrated with the Instructor user role plugin from WisdmLabs but our development team is working to implement this.

Is cross-site chat a possibility?

No, the plugin does not allow the ability to utilize the chat function across multiple sites. It will only work on one site at a time.

Does the LearnDash chat plugin work with multiple instructors?

No, the plugin does not allow the ability for multiple instructor roles to message students but our development team is working to implement this.

Can you post mp3/mp4 files in the chat?

Our current version does not allow the attachment of audio and video files but this is a feature we plan to implement soon.

Does the Messaging for LearnDash plugin work in focus mode?

Yes, the plugin works in the LearnDash focus mode.

Would this plugin allow asynchronous conversations with users as well as real-time? Without needing user email at all?

Indeed! Email isn’t required, all that’s needed is an account on your website.

If I have a course, could it be a chat for all the students and the teacher in the course?

Yes, you can have chat available for all the students in the course as well as the teacher.

When a student’s course subscription expires, are they able to access the chat?

No, once the student’s subscription has expired, they will not have access to the course and therefore, the ability to chat in that course.

What does this fulfill that email does not already?

– It facilitates group conversations (an email chain with 20 students can get confusing).
– Offer to message directly within a course.
– Real-time chat.

What is the difference between this and BuddyPress?

– BuddyPress is a full social network type plugin. This is private messaging in the group, individual course, and 1-1 context.
– If you’re only using BuddyPress for messaging this will save you a lot of tech bloat and is fully integrated with LearnDash.

Does the plugin work with custom roles?

Our Messaging for LearnDash plugin does not work with custom roles out of the box and you may experience issues with the plugin’s functionality.

Are your plugins compatible with the latest version of LearnDash?

Yes, we always keep up to date with the latest LearnDash developments and ensure all plugins are compatible.
