Does the plugin transfer courses and associated content to/from other learning management systems besides LearnDash & LifterLMS?

Transfer only works with LearnDash & LifterLMS at this time. If you’d like us to support your LMS, fill out our form to suggest your preferred LMS.

What LearnDash & LifterLMS user metadata is migrated?

The following user data is included in the migration process:
– LearnDash & LifterLMS course progress
– LearnDash & LifterLMS certificates earned
– LearnDash & LifterLMS groups the user is added to
– User quiz data
– User-submitted assignments/essays
– Challenge exams

The following user data is not included in the migration process:
– User data associated with third-party add-ons

When converting from one LMS to another, is associated content kept in order inside the course builder?

When converting from LearnDash to LifterLMS or LifterLMS to LearnDash, it is likely the associated course lessons will need to be re-ordered. This is because cross-platform data mapping could be different between the two LMS platforms.

Is Transfer compatible with the latest version of WordPress?

Transfer is compatible with WordPress version 6.4.3 or later.

Is Transfer compatible with older versions of WordPress?

WordPress versions earlier than 6.2.2 are not compatible with Transfer, as outdated Gutenberg code causes issues with the Transfer UI.

Can you migrate courses and users separately?

No, Transfer uses LearnDash & LifterLMS courses/groups to migrate user data, so courses and users need to be migrated together.

Does Transfer migrate third-party plugin data?

No, Transfer only migrates LearnDash & LifterLMS core data and user-related data. We are working on integrating third-party plugin data including WooCommerce, Gravity Forms, and more.

Will Transfer work on my VIP-hosted WordPress site or managed hosting?

No, due to how restrictive VIP-hosted and other managed hosting sites are, for example, the ability to allow write permissions, Transfer will not function correctly.

Does Transfer convert LearnDash Topics to LifterLMS Lessons?

No, Transfer would omit LearnDash topics as LifterLMS does not have an equivalent post type to LearnDash topics. LearnDash lessons would be converted to LifterLMS lessons.

What LearnDash & LifterLMS global settings are included in the migration process?

The following LearnDash global settings are included in the transfer process:
– Course settings

The following LifterLMS global settings are included in the Transfer process:

Does the plugin sync user data with new courses?

No, Transfer relies on courses & users to be migrated at the same time to preserve progress. If you have existing users on your import site, and you import new data associated with the existing users, the users data will be updated. You cannot migrate user progress from an export site, and import to a site with new courses.

Does Transfer migrate custom data?

Yes, Transfer gives you the option to include custom data for LearnDash & LifterLMS including API data, webhook data, quiz attempts, etc.

Is Transfer compatible with a multisite setup?

Our plugin works when migrating LearnDash & LifterLMS courses and content from one subsite to another subsite, but does not work from one multisite to another multisite at this time.

Is LearnDash & LifterLMS quiz data migrated?

Yes! Transfer supports user quiz data migration. We would like to note that Transfer doesn’t take the statistics data for each quiz attempt, which are stored in a custom table in LearnDash & LifterLMS. We only get the quiz results which are stored in the quiz meta.

Does the plugin check for duplicate content?

No, our plugin does not check for duplicate LearnDash or LifterLMS content.

When importing, is content already on the destination site removed?

When importing LearnDash & LifterLMS content, Transfer does not alter any existing content or remove it. This could result in duplicate content, however.

Does your plugin export and import via CSV?

Transfer does not support CSV, but this is a feature currently under development.

Does the plugin retain all IDs?

Anything that is related to LearnDash & LifterLMS, and linked on the source site should import the same way to your destination site. Due to how WordPress auto-generates IDs, there is a good chance they will likely change upon migration.

Are LearnDash & LifterLMS course authors migrated?

Yes, Transfer allows you to export users, including enrolled users and authors of related content.

How are the zip files exported?

Files are exported via JSON.

Are H5P contents migrated?

Our development team is working to add this feature in a future version.

Does the plugin transfer custom fields?

The Transfer plugin does not transfer custom fields. It only migrates LearnDash & LifterLMS metadata at this time.

Can you export course data for just 1 course instead of all of them?

Yes, of course!

Does the plugin support Elementor?

Yes, it does!

Is media migrated between LearnDash & LifterLMS sites?

Media that is embedded in the LearnDash or LifterLMS course content is migrated, including images and videos. Media must be connected to a LearnDash or LifterLMS course to be migrated.

Can I export my course content and import it to multiple sites?

Yes! Once you export your course and associated content, you can import the content to multiple new sites.

Does Transfer work with groups?

Yes, it does.

If my computer goes to sleep, will the export/import process stop?

No! Even if your computer goes to sleep, the export/import process will continue until it is completed.

Does Transfer keep original GUIDs for exported stuff or does it automatically replace GUIDs?

Transfer replaces the GUIDs with the site URL (destination site URL) automatically when the data is imported.

Will an upload link (i.e. WooCommerce) for a closed course transfer?

Yes, when exporting courses, if you have a URL to a store link, that link will also transfer along with the course content.

Does it work with the Presto Player plugin?

Note you’d need to have the Presto Player plugin activated on the new site when you import, but the actual content from the lesson, etc. will be pulled in.

Is embedded content like images and videos able to be transferred?

Yes, embedded content including Vimeo, YouTube, etc will be transferred. Media that is directly uploaded to the site will need to have their source URLs updated.
